One of the most beautiful landscapes of Austria, where even emperor Francis Joseph I spent his holidays for decades. You too have the opportunity to enjoy this unique landscape. You’ll see calm lakes and majestic mountains with the Dachstein as their highest peak. The history of this region is closely related with salt mining and the family of the Austrian emperors.
No wonder, this landscape gives the beautiful background for the world-famous musical »Sound of Music«, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The film won 5 Academy Awards, if there would have been a category »Best Location«, it would have won undoubtedly one more.
The lake district is full of touristic gems, therefore we offer three different routes that can be tailored indivdually. The shortest tour brings us the the Wolfgangsee with its picturesque cities St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang. St. Gilgen is closely related with the family of Mozart verbunden, in St. Wolfgang we’ll see the famous late gothic altar piece in the pilgrimage church. Our way back lead us to Mondsee with its beautiful church that was used as the wedding church in »Sound of Music«.
The second tour leads us to Bad Ischl where we visit the Kaiservilla, the summer residence of emperor Francis Joseph I and empress Elisabeth »Sisi« of Austria. You’ll definitely remember a visit the famous Zauner pastry shop, once purveyor of the imperial court.
The third tour leads us to Hallstatt, located deep in the Salzkammergut region. The picturesque city is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its fine architecture build right at the lake.
We visit the Salzkammergut with your coach. For individual guests we gladly organize a van or minibus.
